Ask more questions - get a detailed medical historyYou ask the patient for more details on the nature of her pain, if she has done something that might have caused an injury to her knee. The patient says she used to do gymnastics back in high school, when she injured her knee pretty badly. She recoverd and did a lot of physiotherapy sessions at the time, but the knee kept on hurting from time to time and she experienced stiffness in the joint sometimes. You also ask if there is a history of any type of arthritis or other musculoskeletal disease (autoimmune or degenerative) in the family. It seems that you may have to order some tests and refer the patient. But you request to do a follow up after a month to check on your patients' progress. |
