Exercise more and eat a healthy dietErik starts exercising and embraces the Mediterranean diet – loads of veggies, legumes, fruits, nuts, grains, fish, seafood, extra virgin olive oil, and a hint of red wine. While his increased physical activity makes household chores easier and more fun, going the gym is a different story. The fatigue hits hard, making running and aerobics a distant dream. Erik initially thought that merely cutting down on smoking, exercising more and eating healthy, will be enough, but the process feels uncomfortable. After a few weeks of trying to smoke less, he’s back to his old smoking habits. Realising he needs to take a more decisive approach, Erik sets a goal to quit smoking entirely within a specific timeframe, to unlock the biggest health benefits. Heading back to his doctor, Erik asks for some guidance in the quitting process. He’s figured out that tackling that uncomfortable feeling he gets when trying to quit requires some extra support. Erik knows kicking the smoking habit is no walk in the park, and he doesn’t really know when he will start feeling the first positive effects.
